The International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA) has issued a press release condemning the decision of the United States Government to impose sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) as an institution.

The ICCBA expresses serious concern about the impact of these measures on the independence and functioning of the Court, as well as their potential consequences for independent Counsel and Support Staff and the effective representation of defendants and victims.

The statement also refers to the ICCBA's recent amicus curiae filing before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, challenging the US sanctions regime.

The ICCBA calls for the immediate lifting of the sanctions and urges States Parties to take effective measures to safeguard the Court and all those engaged in its work.

The full press release is below.
