Statement of the ICCBA regarding the Death of Dragoslav Ognjanović

The ICCBA has issued the following statement on the death of Dragoslav Ognjanović: The International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA) is highly concerned to hear about the recent murder of Dragoslav Ognjanović, a Serbian lawyer who was shot outside his home in Belgrade on 28 July 2018. Dragoslav Ognjanović was a defence lawyer, who had formerly represented Slobodan Milošević at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague and subsequently practised as a lawyer in Serbia. ICCBA Presidency Attend 20th Anniversary of Rome Statute Events

On 17 July 2018, it was the 20th Anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute which created the international criminal court and its international justice system. The ICC organised a Mock Trial which was held in the Supreme Court of the Netherlands on the evening of 16 July and a full day high level symposium on 17 July at the Permanent Premises of the ICC. Chief Charles Taku, President, Dr. Caroline Buisman, Vice-President for Defence and Mr. Jens Dieckmann, Vice-President for Victims were in attendance at the events. ICCBA General Assembly and Elections 2018

On Friday 29 June 2018, the ICCBA held its General Assembly for members at the ICC. The General Assembly was opened by Judge Fremr, ICC First Vice President and Peter Lewis, ICC Registrar. These opening remarks were followed by the signing of an affiliation agreement with the Federation of European Bars. After this the General Assembly went into closed session and discussed the activities of each committee for the last year and approved the budget for the next year.
