Anand A. Shah


Anand Ajay Shah (B.A., M.A., J.D., New York Bar) is an American attorney who has assisted in the representation of numerous defendants before the ICC (Darfur, Kenya and Libya Situations) and STL. He is currently a member of the ICC defence teams for Abdallah Banda and Saif Al-Islam Gadafi. He previously served on the ICCBA Legal Advisory, Amicus and Counsel Support Staff committees, as well as the ICCBA Secretariat. He additionally serves on ICCBA working groups on workplace harassment and technology issues, and conducts trainings on international criminal practice. Anand has also provided advice to governments on international law issues and conflict resolution.

Haydee Dijstal

Haydee Dijkstal is a US attorney practicing international criminal and human rights law before international, regional and domestic courts. Her practice has included work before the ICC, ICTY, SCSL, African Commission and Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights and UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. She has been a member of legal teams representing parties including the defence, victims and Governments before the ICC and other courts, and currently works on the legal team representing victims of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and legal team representing Palestinian victims before the ICC.

Séraphine Nga Essomba

Séraphine Nga Essomba is a Doctor of international criminal law and Lawyer practicing in France. She is author of several articles on international criminal law, transitional justice, international human rights law and international crimes. She has also received a certification as "International crimes analyst". She was a lecturer in criminal law and criminal procedure in three universities:  Douala (Cameroun), Brest (France), and Toulouse (France). She is a member of the ICCBA Training and Amicus committees, Legal Assistant at the ICC since 2012, and member of the International Association of Criminal Law.

Karlijn van der Voort

Karlijn van der Voort is a partner in a criminal law firm based in The Hague, where she specializes in international and domestic criminal law. She has been a practicing attorney for more than fifteen years, with experience in working for defence teams before the SCSL, ICTY, ECCC, and ICC. She further worked for the OPCD of the ICC, where she assisted defence counsel on substantive and procedural issues in the proceedings. Besides being a criminal lawyer, Ms. Van der Voort is also engaged in training of (international) defence counsel, including training on ethics and disciplinary proceedings for defense counsel, and further provides trainings and lectures on a wide range of human rights related topics.
